Welcome to Michigan's Complete Year-Round Training and Boarding Facility!

That passion led me to begin a career with the Ralston Purina Co. as a certified companion animal advisor in 1978. That later led to me becoming a dog handler/hunting guide and eventually the head dog trainer at one of the largest hunt clubs in the state of Michigan. In 2003, my lifelong dream was realized and I became a full time dog trainer and breeder. My family and I have opened Countryside Kennels of Bad Axe, LLC. This 40 acre training facility is a dog owners dream come true; three individual waterfowl training areas, numerous fields consisting of native grasses, corn, sorghum, clover, sunflowers, as well as a wooded parcel to simulate grouse and woodcock cover. Being a full time trainer has allowed me the privilege of handling nearly every sporting breed ever born. I have grown to appreciate the talents and beauty that each of the breeds offer, however the labs, in particular the pointing labs, have continued to steal my heart over the years. As a result, I have searched the United States to find only the best of each breed and objectively breed dogs with a purpose and distinct goals in hopes of producing world class hunting family companions. In short, our dogs are bred to be outstanding in both the home and the field.
We have sold our dogs all over the world. Not only do they make great pets and companions, but our dogs have been used by the United States Military as detection dogs. They are being used as drug dogs, bed bug detection dogs and we are currently breeding and training dogs for shed antler hunting.
Thank you for visiting our web site and welcome to the Countryside Kennels family. I look forward to meeting you and your pet. James "Lucky" Miller
